Steel Manifold Development

In the project highlighted here, MED-KAS Hydraulics was contracted by a customer in the hydraulic press industry to design and build a custom steel manifold, and provide full scale system testing. The experienced engineering staff designed the manifold to meet stringent customer requirements, the part was manufactured utilizing a state-of-the-art horizontal CNC machining centers, and a large radial drill. Processes including milling, drilling, counter boring, counter sinking, and tapping were carried out to create the unique profile. The tightest tolerances of ± 0.001" were held throughout. A large surface grinder was utilized to finish the part to a 63 micro finish. The part was then deburred to remove machining debris and hooked up to the test stand. All valve components were attached and the part underwent a barrage of testing including hydrostatic leak testing, pressure testing, and functionality testing.

Four manifolds were produced for this project, shipped to the client in Texas after a turnaround time of 7-8 weeks.
